But a quiet share of our work is for personal events: 50th birthdays, family reunions, retirement parties, weddings, graduations, anniversary celebrations. These are easy to make memorable and easier than people think to produce. Here’s a quick guide.
Why custom beats store-bought
The dollar-store HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner is fine for a casual get-together. For a milestone — a 50th, a 75th, a 40-years-of-marriage — the generic banner feels off-key. A custom banner with the honoree’s name, a key date, a meaningful image, or an inside reference becomes part of the event’s memory. Photos of the day will show that banner. It’s worth getting it right.
Pricing isn’t what you’d expect
Most people are surprised that a custom 4-foot or 6-foot personalized banner costs less than a fancy bouquet. It’s an affordable centerpiece for a major event — and it’s keepsake-worthy in a way flowers aren’t.
Photo banners
One of the most popular event banners we make is a printed photo banner: a single hero photo of the honoree from earlier in life, or a photo collage of moments. These take the event from “decorated” to “personal.” Bring us 5-10 of your favorite photos and we can lay out a collage banner that anchors the room.
Sizes and where to hang
Indoor events: 3-4 feet wide for tabletop or behind-the-cake, 5-6 feet wide for a wall behind the buffet, 8+ feet for a backdrop or photo wall. Outdoor: scale up. Grommets every 18-24 inches let you hang it cleanly anywhere.
Materials for indoor vs outdoor
Indoor banners can be lighter weight matte vinyl that doesn’t reflect light back at the camera. Outdoor banners should be the standard 13 oz vinyl with reinforced hems. For a reusable banner you’ll display every anniversary, opt for the heavier outdoor stock — it’ll survive being rolled up and stored between events.
Lead time
Most event banners can turn around in 3-5 business days. For weddings or events with very specific dates, give us 2 weeks if you can — fewer surprises and time for a proof if you want one.
